The game was also released for the Wii U in North America on 18 November.

On 28 February 2013, Ubisoft declared the game’s sequel, named Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. It was released on 29 October 2013.

A remastered version of the game was released for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on 29 March 2019; and the Nintendo Switch version was released on 21 May 2019
